Attorney Kenneth J. Cotter brings more than four decades of legal experience to the Law Office of Jennifer T. Dane, P.A., where he focuses on family law and mediation. A seasoned litigator and certified mediator, Ken is known for his professionalism, deep legal knowledge, and commitment to achieving fair, effective resolutions for his clients.

A Long Island, New York native, Ken earned his undergraduate degree from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in 1977. After graduation, he relocated to Central Florida, beginning his career as an Assistant State Attorney in Orange County before entering private practice in 1981. He joined Jennifer Dane Family Law in August 2022, bringing a wealth of experience and perspective to the firm’s team.

Over the course of his distinguished career, Ken has litigated cases in criminal defense, family law, and personal injury, and is certified by the Supreme Court of Florida as both a Family Law and Appellate Mediator. He is perhaps best known for his role on the defense team in one of the first criminal trials in the United States to use DNA evidence—a groundbreaking moment in legal history that was featured nationally on ABC’s 20/20 and other major news outlets.

Ken’s professional excellence has earned him the Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Rating, the highest peer review rating awarded for legal ability and ethical standards—an honor achieved by less than 8% of attorneys nationwide.

Beyond his legal career, Ken values his family above all. He has been married to his wife, Cathy, since 1977, and together they have a son, daughter, and two grandchildren, all of whom live in Central Florida.
